The Postal Museum & Lunch

The Postal Museum brings together fascinating exhibitions and unveils the mysterious Mail Rail to the public for the very first time. Journey through five centuries of world-class curiosities that changed the world.

From global innovations and crackpot schemes, to pirates and highwaymen, find out how the world’s first social network kept us all in touch.

Board a miniature train and travel back in time through the narrow underground tunnels of Mail Rail on a 15 minute interactive ride. Pass through original station platforms and see them come to life as you sneak a glimpse into the heyday of this century old railway.

What you will see on your Mail Rail ride

See the original and largely unchanged station platforms, deep below Royal Mail’s Mount Pleasant sorting office. Take in a theatrical experience that travels back in time to the railway’s lively 1930’s heyday.

See and hear the people who worked on it, experience their lives below ground and glimpse hidden parts of the railway that once kept the mail coursing through London for 22 hours every day.

Included in your ticket is entrance to ‘Voices from the Deep’ which is a new exhibition revealing sunken, forgotten letters recently recovered from a shipwreck.

Following your visit to the Museum sit down for a two course lunch with tea or coffee, less than a two minute walk away from the museum.

One free place after 30 paying passengers

Please be aware, in the event of an evacuation, guests must be able to walk unaided for a minimum of 100 metres on uneven surfaces with minimal lighting, and up at least 70 steep steps.
