London Transport Museum, located in the heart of Covent Garden, explores the story of London and its transport system over the last 200 years, highlighting the powerful link between transport and the growth of modern London, culture and society since 1800.
As well as exploring the past, the Museum looks at present-day transport developments and concepts for urban transportation in the future, which includes a contemporary collecting policy for the benefit of future generations. With lots of heritage vehicles to climb on board and explore, to exhibits and galleries looking to the future of engineering and transport in London, your group will enjoy a fascinating visit to the world’s leading museum of urban transport.
This extraordinary transport collection includes iconic vehicles such as a 1988 Carbodies FX4S Plus Black Taxi and a 1963 red Routemaster Bus.
London Transport posters spanning 100 years, representing a range of famous artists, styles, formats and techniques, are also on display, as well as uniforms and accessories worn by London Transport staff from the nineteenth century to the present date.
Hidden London Tours
During 2020 Groups Direct will be offering you and your group the chance to experience Hidden London. Behind locked doors and inconspicuous grilles on the Underground lies a hidden world of disused tunnels and passages. Once busy with commuters and trains, these subterranean spaces are now surplus to requirements and out of bounds.
London Transport Museum has obtained exclusive access to a number of these forgotten and previously inaccessible places. Groups Direct will keep you informed of access times and prices, but if you wish to register your interest in experiencing these unique spaces, please contact our Sales Team.
Tours run at different times throughout the year and not all tours run at once.
